Artist, poet, philosopher and professor of aesthetics at the University of Bologna, Italy, Nanni Menetti combines handwriting with drawing, found objects, collage and assemblage. He works in two series: “Microviolence” and “Cryographics.” Microviolence refers to the way people unintentionally violate one another through speech. Cryographics are works involving Menetti’s unusual process which he calls “ice-writing” — freezing his paintings and letting the frost patterns emerge as the paint thaws.
